Mission & Call to Monotheism
- 7:65: And to the ‘Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, “O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?”
- 11:50: And to ‘Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, “O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood].”
- 26:124: When their brother Hud said to them, “Will you not fear Allah?”
- 26:126: “So fear Allah and obey me.”
- 46:21: And mention the brother of ‘Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf—and warners had already passed on before him and after him—[saying], “Worship none but Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day.”
Personality
- 7:67-68: He said, “O my people, there is not within me foolishness, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds. I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I am to you a trustworthy adviser.”
- 11:51: “O my people, I do not ask you for it any reward. My reward is only from the one who created me. Then will you not reason?”
- 26:125: “I am to you a trustworthy messenger.”
People’s Arrogance/Idolatry
- 7:66: The chiefs of his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and to whom We had given luxury in the worldly life, said, “This is not but a man like you, who eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink.”
- 11:52: “O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals.”
- 26:128-129: “Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, and take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally?”
Rejection & Argument
- 7:70: They said, “Have you come to us that we should worship Allah alone and leave what our fathers have worshipped? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful.”
- 11:53-54: They said, “O Hud, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not to abandon our gods on your word. Nor are we believers in you. We only say that some of our gods have possessed you with evil.” He said, “Indeed, I call Allah to witness, and witness [yourselves] that I am free from whatever you associate with Allah.”
- 11:56-57: “Indeed, I have relied upon Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature but that He holds its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a path [that is] straight. But if you turn away, I have already conveyed that with which I was sent to you. My Lord will give succession to a people other than you, and you will not harm Him at all. Indeed, my Lord is, over all things, Guardian.”
- 26:132-135: “And fear He who provided you with that which you know, provided you with livestock and children and gardens and springs. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day.”
Warning of Punishment
- 7:71-72: He said, “Already have defilement and anger fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me concerning [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has not sent down any authority? Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait.” So We saved him and those with him by mercy from Us. And We eliminated those who denied Our signs, and they were not [at all] believers.
- 11:56: “Indeed, I have relied upon Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature but that He holds its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a path [that is] straight.”
- 26:135: “Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day.”
- 26:139: So they denied him, and We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Punishment of ‘Ad
- 7:72: So We saved him and those with him by mercy from Us. And We eliminated those who denied Our signs, and they were not [at all] believers.
- 11:58-60: And when Our command came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; and We saved them from a harsh punishment. And that was ‘Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant. And they were [therefore] followed in this world with a curse and [as well] on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, ‘Aad denied their Lord; then away with ‘Aad, the people of Hud.
- 26:139: So they denied him, and We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
- 46:25-26: Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people. And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We had assigned to them hearing and vision and hearts. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were rejecting the signs of Allah; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

- 11:58: And when Our command came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; and We saved them from a harsh punishment.
- 26:139: So they denied him, and We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
