I seek refuge in Allah from the outcast Shaitan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Surah Al Imran. Ayet 33 to 37, 42 to 47.
Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran above all others. They are descendants of one another, and Allah hears and knows all. Imran’s wife vowed to dedicate her unborn child to Allah’s service, praying for acceptance. When she gave birth to a girl, she noted that a male is not like a female, and Allah knew what she delivered. Allah accepted Mary graciously, ensured her good upbringing, and entrusted her to Zechariah’s care. Whenever Zechariah visited her in the sanctuary, he found her with food and asked its source. She replied that it came from Allah, who provides without limit to whomever He wills. The angels declared, “Mary, Allah has chosen you, purified you, and elevated you above all women.” They urged, “Mary, devote yourself to your Lord, bow, and kneel in prayer with those who worship.” This is hidden knowledge revealed to you. You were not present when they cast lots to decide who would care for Mary or when they disputed. The angels announced, “Mary, Allah brings you joyful news of a word from Him, named the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary. He will be greatly honored in this world and the Hereafter, and drawn near to Allah.” He will speak to people from the cradle and as a mature man, and he will be among the righteous. She asked, “My Lord, how can I have a son when no man has touched me?” He replied, “Allah creates what He wills. When He decrees something, He says, ‘Be,’ and it is.”
Surah Maryam. Ayet 16 to 35.
Recall in the Book the story of Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the east. She secluded herself, and We sent Our Spirit to her, appearing as a perfect human. She said, “I seek refuge in the Merciful from you, if you are mindful of Allah.” He replied, “I am a messenger from your Lord, sent to grant you a pure son.” She asked, “How can I have a son when no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?” He said, “So it will be. Your Lord declares, ‘It is easy for Me.’ We will make him a sign for people and a mercy from Us. The matter is decided.” So she conceived him and retreated with him to a distant place. The pains of childbirth drove her to a palm tree’s trunk. She cried, “Oh, I wish I had died and been forgotten before this.” A voice called from below, “Do not grieve; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.” “Shake the palm tree’s trunk toward you; it will drop fresh, ripe dates.” “Eat, drink, and be content. If you see anyone, say, ‘I have vowed silence to the Merciful and will not speak today.’” She returned to her people, carrying him. They exclaimed, “Mary, you have done something terrible.” “Sister of Aaron, your father was not a wicked man, nor was your mother unchaste.” She pointed to the child. They said, “How can we talk to an infant in the cradle?” The child said, “I am Allah’s servant. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet.” “He has made me blessed wherever I go, and commanded me to pray and give charity as long as I live.” “I am to be kind to my mother, and He has not made me arrogant or rebellious.” “Peace was upon me the day I was born, will be on the day I die, and on the day I am raised alive.” Such is Jesus, son of Mary—the Word of Truth about which they dispute. It is not fitting for Allah to have a son; exalted is He! When He decrees something, He says, “Be,” and it is.
Surah Al Maidah. Ayet 110 to 116.
Allah will say, “Jesus, son of Mary, remember My favor to you and your mother? I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, enabling you to speak from the cradle and as a man. I taught you the Book, Wisdom, Torah, and Gospel. With My permission, you shaped clay into a bird, breathed into it, and it became a bird. With My permission, you healed the blind and lepers, and brought the dead to life. I protected you from the Children of Israel when you brought clear signs, yet some denied, saying, ‘This is mere deception.’” When I inspired the disciples to believe in Me and My Messenger, they said, “We believe and bear witness that we submit.” The disciples asked, “Jesus, son of Mary, can your Lord send us a feast from heaven?” He replied, “Be mindful of Allah, if you are true believers.” They said, “We wish to eat from it to reassure our hearts, confirm your truth, and witness it.” Jesus, son of Mary, prayed, “Allah, our Lord, send us a meal from heaven as a recurring celebration for us all, and a sign from You. Provide for us, for You are the best provider.” Allah replied, “I will send it, but whoever denies the truth afterward will face a unique punishment.” Allah asked, “Jesus, son of Mary, did you tell people to worship you and your mother as gods beside Allah?” He answered, “Exalted are You! I could not say what I had no right to. If I had, You would know. You know my heart, but I do not know Yours. You alone know all that is hidden.”
Surah Al Anbiya. Ayet 91.
Recall Mary, who guarded her chastity. We breathed Our Spirit into her, making her and her son a sign for all people.
Surah Al Tahrim. Ayet 12.
Consider Mary, daughter of Imran, who preserved her chastity. We breathed Our Spirit into her, and she affirmed her Lord’s words and books, being deeply devout.
Surahs and Verses Mentioning Isa or Jesus in the Qur’an.
Surah Al Baqarah. Ayet 87, 136, and 253.
We gave Moses the Book, followed by other messengers, and granted Jesus, son of Mary, clear signs, strengthening him with the Holy Spirit. Yet, when a messenger brings what you dislike, you grow arrogant, rejecting some and killing others. Say, “We believe in Allah and what was revealed to us, to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the tribes, Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among them and submit to Him.” Some messengers were favored over others. Allah spoke to some, elevated others, and gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear signs, supporting him with the Holy Spirit. If Allah willed, their followers would not have fought after receiving clear signs, but they did. Some believed, others denied. If Allah willed, they would not have fought, but He does as He pleases.
Surah Al Imran. Ayet 45 to 59, and 84.
The angels said, “Mary, Allah gives you glad tidings of a word from Him, named the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary. He will be honored in this world and the Hereafter, and brought near to Allah.” He will speak to people from the cradle and as a man, and be among the righteous. She asked, “My Lord, how can I have a son when no man has touched me?” He replied, “Allah creates what He wills. When He decrees, He says, ‘Be,’ and it is.” Allah will teach him the Book, Wisdom, Torah, and Gospel. He will be a messenger to the Children of Israel, saying, “I bring a sign from your Lord: I shape clay into a bird, breathe into it, and, by Allah’s permission, it becomes a bird. By Allah’s permission, I heal the blind, lepers, and raise the dead. I tell you what you eat and store at home. This is a sign for you if you believe.” “I confirm the Torah’s existing teachings and make some forbidden things lawful. I bring a sign from your Lord, so be mindful of Allah and obey me.” “Allah is my Lord and yours; worship Him. This is the straight path.” When Jesus sensed their disbelief, he asked, “Who will help me in Allah’s cause?” The disciples replied, “We are Allah’s helpers. We believe in Allah; bear witness that we submit.” They prayed, “Our Lord, we believe in Your revelation and follow the Messenger; record us as witnesses.” The disbelievers schemed against Jesus, but Allah foiled their plans, for He is the best planner. Allah said, “Jesus, I will take you, raise you to Myself, purify you from disbelievers, and make your followers prevail over them until the Resurrection Day. Then you will return to Me, and I will judge your disputes.” “The disbelievers will face severe punishment in this world and the Hereafter, with no one to help.” “But believers who do good will be fully rewarded. Allah does not love the unjust.” These are verses and the Wise Reminder related to you. To Allah, Jesus is like Adam, created from dust. He said, “Be,” and he was. Say, “We believe in Allah, what was revealed to us, to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the tribes, Moses, Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among them and submit to Him.”
Surah Aan Nisa. Ayet 157 to 172.
They claimed, “We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, Allah’s Messenger.” But they neither killed nor crucified him; it only appeared so. Those who differ are confused, following mere conjecture. They certainly did not kill him. Rather, Allah raised him to Himself, for Allah is Mighty and Wise. All People of the Book will believe in him before his death, and on the Resurrection Day, he will be a witness against them. Due to the Jews’ wrongs, We forbade them certain good things previously allowed, as they often turned from Allah. They took usury despite its prohibition and wrongfully consumed others’ wealth. For persistent disbelievers among them, We prepared a painful punishment. But those with deep knowledge and faith, who believe in what was revealed to you and before, who pray steadfastly, give charity, and believe in Allah and the Last Day—We will grant them a great reward. We revealed to you, as We did to Noah and the prophets after him, to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, their descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, Solomon, and David, to whom We gave the Psalms. Some messengers We mentioned to you, others We did not. Allah spoke directly to Moses. These messengers brought good news and warnings, so people have no excuse before Allah. He is Mighty and Wise. Allah Himself testifies to what He revealed to you, sent with His knowledge, with angels as witnesses—though Allah alone suffices. Those who disbelieve and block others from Allah’s path have strayed far. Allah will not forgive or guide those who disbelieve and act unjustly, except to Hell’s path, where they will dwell forever—a simple matter for Allah. People, the Messenger brings you Truth from your Lord; believe for your own good. If you disbelieve, all in the heavens and earth belongs to Allah, who is All-Knowing and Wise. People of the Book, do not exaggerate in your faith or say anything about Allah but the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is Allah’s Messenger, His Word to Mary, and a Spirit from Him. Believe in Allah and His Messengers, and do not say “Three.” Cease, for your own good. Allah is One God, exalted above having a son. All in the heavens and earth is His. He is the most trustworthy. The Messiah never disdained being Allah’s servant, nor did the angels near Him. Allah will gather the arrogant and those too proud to worship Him.
Surah Al Maidah. Ayet 17, 46, 72 to 77, 110 to 119.
Those who say, “Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,” defy the truth. Say, “If Allah willed, could anyone stop Him from destroying the Messiah, his mother, and all on earth?” Allah rules the heavens, earth, and all between, creating what He wills with full power. We sent Jesus, son of Mary, to follow earlier prophets, confirming the Torah’s existing teachings. We gave him the Gospel, with guidance and light, confirming the Torah, offering direction and warning for the mindful. Those who say, “Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,” defy Allah. The Messiah said, “Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and yours.” Whoever associates others with Allah, He bars from Heaven, destining them to Hell, with no help for the unjust. Those who say, “Allah is one of three,” deny the truth, for there is only One God. If they do not stop, a painful punishment awaits the persistent deniers. Why not repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness? He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. The Messiah, son of Mary, was a messenger, like those before him. His mother was steadfast in truth. Both ate food. See how clear We make these signs, yet how deluded they remain. Say, “Why worship what cannot harm or benefit you, when Allah alone is All-Hearing, All-Knowing?” Say, “People of the Book, do not exceed the truth in your beliefs or follow the misguided whims of earlier people, who led many astray and still wander from the right path.” Allah will say, “Jesus, son of Mary, recall My favor to you and your mother? I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit, letting you speak from the cradle and as a man. I taught you the Book, Wisdom, Torah, and Gospel. With My permission, you shaped clay into a bird, breathed into it, and it became a bird. With My permission, you healed the blind and lepers, and raised the dead. I shielded you from the Children of Israel when you brought clear signs, yet some denied, saying, ‘This is mere deception.’” When I inspired the disciples to believe in Me and My Messenger, they said, “We believe and bear witness that we submit.” The disciples asked, “Jesus, son of Mary, can your Lord send a feast from heaven?” He replied, “Be mindful of Allah, if you are true believers.” They said, “We wish to eat from it to reassure our hearts, confirm your truth, and witness it.” Jesus, son of Mary, prayed, “Allah, our Lord, send us a meal from heaven as a recurring celebration for us all, and a sign from You. You alone know all that is hidden.” “I told them only what You commanded: ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and yours.’ I witnessed them while with them. After You took me, You watched over them. You witness everything.” “If You punish them, they are Your servants; if You forgive them, You are Mighty and Wise.” Allah will say, “Today, the truthful benefit from their honesty. They will have Gardens with flowing rivers, abiding forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the supreme triumph.”
Surah At Tawbah. Ayet 30 to 31.
Some Jews say, “Ezra is Allah’s son,” and some Christians say, “The Messiah is Allah’s son.” They echo earlier disbelievers’ claims. May Allah rebuke them for their distorted beliefs. They took their rabbis, monks, and the Messiah, son of Mary, as lords beside Allah, though commanded to worship only One God. There is no god but Him, exalted above their partners.
Surah Maryam. Ayet 16 to 40.
It is not fitting for Allah to have a son; exalted is He! When He decrees something, He says, “Be,” and it is. Jesus said, “Allah is my Lord and yours; worship Him. This is the straight path.” The sects differed about him, so woe to disbelievers when they face that momentous Day. How clearly they will hear and see when they stand before Us, yet today they remain in clear error. Warn them of the Day of Regret, when all is decided, yet they are heedless and do not believe. We will inherit the earth and all upon it, and to Us they will return.
Surah Al Anbiya. Ayet 91.
Recall Mary, who guarded her chastity. We breathed Our Spirit into her, making her and her son a sign for all people.
Surah Az Zukhruf. Ayet 57 to 65.
When the son of Mary was cited as an example, your people loudly objected. They asked, “Are our gods better, or is he?” They raised him only to argue, being contentious. Jesus was a servant We blessed, made an example for the Children of Israel. Had We willed, We could have made angels succeed one another on earth. He is a sign of the Hour, so do not doubt it, and follow Me. This is the straight path. Let not Satan divert you; he is your clear enemy. When Jesus brought clear signs, he said, “I bring Wisdom to clarify what you dispute. Be mindful of Allah and obey me.” “Allah is my Lord and yours; worship Him. This is the straight path.” But the factions differed among themselves. Woe to the unjust on that painful Day.
Surah Al Hadid. Ayet 27.
We sent Our Messengers, followed by Jesus, son of Mary, to whom We gave the Gospel. We placed compassion and mercy in his followers’ hearts. Monasticism, which they invented to please Allah, We did not prescribe, and they did not uphold it properly. We rewarded those who believed, but many were disobedient.
Surah As-Saff. Ayet 6 and 14.
When Jesus, son of Mary, said, “Children of Israel, I am Allah’s Messenger to you, confirming the Torah’s existing teachings and heralding a messenger named Ahmad to come after me,” they called his clear signs obvious magic. Believers, support Allah, as Jesus, son of Mary, asked his disciples, “Who will support me for Allah?” They replied, “We are Allah’s supporters.” Some Children of Israel believed, others disbelieved. We aided the believers against their foes, and they prevailed.
Surah At Tahrim. Ayet 12.
Consider Mary, daughter of Imran, who preserved her chastity. We breathed Our Spirit into her, and she affirmed her Lord’s words and books, being deeply devout.
