Surah Al Mulk.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.

Glory to Allah: Death and Life is a Test for Good Doers.

Blessed (tabāraka) is Allah's for his absolute sovereignty (Mulk) and competence (shay'in Qadir) in his hand. He created (khalaqa) death (mawt) and life (hayat) as a purposeful trial (bala) to determine who is "best in deed" (ahsanu amala), reassuring believers that He is Mighty (azīzul), yet Forgiving (ghafūr).

Perfect Creation Signifies Perfect Creator who is Just.

His creation (khalaqa), exemplified by the seven (sab'a) heavens (samawatin) stacked in layers (tibaqa), is perfect, containing no inconsistency (tafawut) or flaws (futur). A repeated challenge to find a flaw will fail, causing the gaze (basar) to return humbled (khasian) and fatigued (hasir). The nearest heaven (as-sama ad-dunya) is decorated with "lamps" (masabih), or stars, which serve both as adornment (zinah) and as "missiles" (rujuman) to repel devils (shayatin).

Disbelievers (kafaru) at loss because they did not "listen" or "use intellect"

The fate of disbelievers (kafaru), for whom Hell (Jahannam) is a "wretched destination" (bisa al-masir). Hell is personified as a raging (tafuru) entity that "inhales" (shahiqan) the damned and nearly bursts with "rage" (ghayz). Its keepers (khazanatuha) confront each "group" (fawj), forcing a confession: they ask if a "warner" (nadhir) had come. The damned admit (qalu bala) that they "denied" (kadhdhabna) the warner and accused him of being in "great error" (dalalin kabir). They identify their core failure, lamenting that if they had "listened" (nasma) or "used intellect" (naqilu), they would not be "companions of the Blaze" (ashabi as-sair). This final "confession" (fatarafu) of their "sin" (dhanbihim) is useless, sealing their fate with a divine curse: "So away with them" (fa-suhqan).

Allah knows both Seen or Unseen (Hidden and Manifest): Fear of Lord Unseen is the Wisdom.

Those who "fear" (yakhshawna) their Lord "unseen" (bi-al-ghaybi) will receive "forgiveness" (maghfiratun) and a "great reward" (ajrun kabir). This is because God is All-Knowing (Alimun), aware of both "secret" (asirru) and "public" (ijharu) speech, and even the "essence of the breasts" (bi-dhati as-sudur). The Creator (man khalaqa) must know His creation, being the "Subtle" (al-Latif) and the "Acquainted" (al-Khabir). God's mercy is shown in making the earth "tame" (dhalulan) for humans to seek "provision" (rizq), but the final "resurrection" (nushur) is inevitable. This earthly security is an illusion, as God threatens to make the earth "swallow" (yakhsifa) them or send a "storm of stones" (hasiban) from the sky. This "rejection" (nakir) is not new, as previous nations also "denied" (kadhdhaba).

Sign in the birds: It is Allah's Mercy, Message is always Preserved and Stay Suspended.

Don't you see the Birds (or symbolically messengers, ṭayr, flying creature, bird] of haven comes (ṣāffātin, to spread, expands, spreading) and leaves (yaqbiḍna– contract, folding back) but None holds in suspension them except the Merciful (pure mercy because even on one is asking for it, he keeps the Message anyway freely as mercy), because he is Ever Witnessing or Ever Sight full (shay'in baṣīr).

Whom you should Trust: Look who is Upright and Winners.

Therefore, trusting any "army" (jund) for help or any other provider (yarzuqukum) is "delusion" (ghurur), born of "insolence" (utuww) and "aversion" (nufur).

The disbeliever "walks fallen on his face" (mukibban), while the believer "walks upright" (sawiyyan) on a "straight path" (siratin mustaqim), who is better.

Give Thanks to Allah for Blessing.

The Prophet is commanded (Qul) to declare that God "produced" (anshaakum) humans, granting them "hearing" (as-sama), "vision" (al-absara), and "hearts" (al-afidata), for which they show "little thanks" (tashkuruna).

One Who scattered has the power to re-gather

God "scattered" (dharaakum) humans on earth and will "gather" (tuhsharuna) them for judgment.

The Final Reckoning: Knowledge of That Time (Hour) Belongs only To Allah (not even prophets)

When disbelievers mockingly ask, "Tell us, when (mata) is THAT promise (al-wa'da[u]) if you are truthful (ṣādiqīn)?", the Prophet must reply that this "knowledge" (al-ilmu) is "only with Allah" (inda Allahi); he is just a "clear warner" (nadhirun mubinun).

When this doom arrives "near" (zulfatan), their (kafarū) "faces" (wujuhu) will be "distressed" (siat), and they will be taunted: "This is what you used to call for (taddauna).

The Prophet's personal fate—whether God "destroys him" (ahlakaniya) or shows "mercy" (rahimana)—is irrelevant, as no one can "protect" (yujiru) the disbelievers from the "painful punishment" (adhabin alim).

The believers' declaration is "we believe" (amanna) and "we rely" (tawakkalna) on the Merciful (ar-Rahman), and all will soon see who is in "clear error" (dalalin mubin).

If Allah withhold the Water of Life, what will happen to you?

The final challenge proves total dependence of Allah: if their "water" (maukum) "sank" (ghawran) into the earth, who else could provide "flowing water" (bimā'in ma'īn)?

Surah Al-Mulk V2

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Allah's Absolute Sovereignty is Proven by His Creation of Life and Death as a Test

[1] Blessed (tabāraka; b-r-k) is He in Whose Hand is the absolute sovereignty (al-mulk; m-l-k), and He has power (qadīr; q-d-r) over all things. [2] (It is) He Who created (khalaqa; kh-l-q) death (al-mawt; m-w-t) and life (al-ḥayāt; ḥ-y-y) to test (liyabluwakum; b-l-w) which of you is "best in deed" (aḥsanu ʿamalā; ḥ-s-n, ʿ-m-l). He is the All-Mighty (al-ʿazīz; ʿ-z-z) (able to enforce His will) and the Oft-Forgiving (al-ghafūr; gh-f-r) (to those who repent).

• The Perfection of Creation Stands as a Flawless Testament to the Creator

[3] (It is) He Who created seven (sabʿa) heavens (samāwāt; s-m-w) in layers (ṭibāqā; ṭ-b-q). You cannot see (tarā; r-ʾ-y) any flaw (tafāwut; f-w-t) in the creation of the Most Merciful (ar-raḥmān; r-ḥ-m). So return (irjiʿi) your gaze (al-baṣar; b-ṣ-r): do you see any rifts (fuṭūr; f-ṭ-r)? [4] Then return the gaze twice more; your gaze will return to you humbled (khāsiʾan; kh-s-ʾ) and fatigued (ḥasīr; ḥ-s-r), (having found no imperfection). [5] We have certainly adorned (zayyannā; z-y-n) the nearest heaven (as-samāʾ ad-dunyā) with "lamps" (maṣābīḥ; ṣ-b-ḥ) (the stars), and made them "missiles" (rujūman; r-j-m) for the devils (shayāṭīn; sh-ṭ-n), and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze (as-saʿīr; s-ʿ-r).

• The Disbelievers' Fate is Hell, Which Testifies Against Them

[6] For those who disbelieve (kafarū; k-f-r) in their Lord (rabbihim; r-b-b) is the punishment (ʿadhābu; ʿ-dh-b) of Hell (jahannam), and wretched is the destination (al-maṣīr; ṣ-y-r). [7] When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a terrible inhaling (shahīqan; sh-h-q) as it boils up (tafūru; f-w-r). [8] It almost bursts (tamayyazu; m-y-z) from rage (al-ghayẓ; gh-y-ẓ). Every time a group (fawjun) is thrown into it, its keepers (khazanatuhā) ask them, "Did a warner (nadhīr; n-dh-r) not come to you?"

• The Inhabitants of Hell Confess Their Rejection of the Truth

[9] They will say, "Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied (kadhdhabnā; k-dh-b) and said, 'Allah has not sent down (nazzala; n-z-l) anything; you are only in great error (ḍalālin kabīr; ḍ-l-l).'" [10] And they will say, "If only we had listened (nasmaʿu; s-m-ʿ) or used our intellect (naʿqilu; ʿ-q-l), we would not be among the companions (aṣḥābi; ṣ-ḥ-b) of the Blaze." [11] So they will confess (iʿtarafū; ʿ-r-f) their sin (dhanbihim; dh-n-b). So "away with" (fa-suḥqan) the companions of the Blaze.

• Allah's Omniscience Guarantees Reward for Fear and Accountability for Secrets

[12] Indeed, those who fear (yakhshawna; kh-sh-y) their Lord unseen (bil-ghaybi) will have forgiveness (maghfiratun; gh-f-r) and a great reward (ajrun kabīr). [13] Whether you conceal (asirrū; s-r-r) your speech (qawlakum) or publicize (ijharū; j-h-r) it, He is All-Knowing (ʿalīmun; ʿ-l-m) of what is within the hearts (bi-dhāti aṣ-ṣudūr; ṣ-d-r). [14] (This is a logical proof): Would He Who created not know? He is the Most Subtle (al-laṭīfu; l-ṭ-f), the All-Aware (al-khabīru; kh-b-r).

• The Earth is a Provision, But Its Stability is Not Guaranteed

[15] It is He Who made the earth (al-arḍa; r-ḍ-w) subservient (dhalūlan; dh-l-l) for you; so walk (imshū; m-sh-y) in its paths (manākibihā) and eat (kulū; ʾ-k-l) of His provision (rizqihi; r-z-q). To Him is the Resurrection (an-nushūru; n-sh-r). [16] (This is a warning): Do you feel secure (a-amintum) that He Who is in (or "above") the heaven (man fī as-samāʾ) will not cause the earth to swallow (yakhsifa; kh-s-f) you, as it suddenly shakes (tamūru; m-w-r)? [17] Or do you feel secure that He Who is in the heaven will not send against you a storm of stones (ḥāṣiban; ḥ-ṣ-b)? Then you will know (taʿlamūna) how (real) was My warning (nadhīri). [18] And certainly, those before them denied (kadhdhaba), and how terrible was My rejection (nakīri; n-k-r) (My punishment upon them).

• Divine Power is Manifest in Nature and Unmatched by False Deities

[19] Do they not see (yaraw; r-ʾ-y) the birds (aṭ-ṭayra; ṭ-y-r) above them, spreading (ṣāffātin; ṣ-f-f) their wings and folding them (yaqbiḍna; q-b-ḍ)? None holds them up (yumsikuhunna; m-s-k) except (illā) the Most Merciful (ar-raḥmān). Indeed, He is All-Seer (baṣīrun; b-ṣ-r) of all things. [20] (This is a challenge): Who is this "army" (jundun; j-n-d) of yours that can help (yanṣurukum; n-ṣ-r) you other than Ar-Raḥmān? The disbelievers (al-kāfirūna) are only in delusion (ghurūrin; gh-r-r). [21] (Another challenge): Who is this that provides (yarzuqukum; r-z-q) for you if He should withhold (amsaka) His provision? Yet, they persist (lajjū; l-j-j) in arrogance (ʿutuwwin; ʿ-t-w) and aversion (nufūrin; n-f-r).

• The Guided Man is Contrasted With the Blindly Stubborn

[22] (This is a parable): Is one who walks (yamshī) fallen (mukibban; k-b-b) on his face more guided (ahdā; h-d-y), or one who walks upright (sawiyyan; s-w-y) on a straight path (ṣirāṭin mustaqīmin; ṣ-r-ṭ, q-w-m)?

• Human Senses are a Gift, Yet Man Denies the Hereafter

[23] (Qul) Say, "It is He Who produced (anshaʾakum; n-sh-ʾ) you and made (jaʿala; j-ʿ-l) for you hearing (as-samʿa; s-m-ʿ), sight (al-abṣāra; b-ṣ-r), and hearts (al-afʾidata; f-ʾ-d) (faculties for understanding). Little (qalīlan) is the thanks (tashkurūna; sh-k-r) you give." [24] (Qul) Say, "It is He Who scattered (dharaʾakum; dh-r-ʾ) you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered (tuḥsharūna; ḥ-sh-r)." [25] And they say, "When (matā) is this promise (al-waʿdu; w-ʿ-d), if you are truthful (ṣādiqīna; ṣ-d-q)?" [26] (Qul) Say, "The knowledge (al-ʿilmu; ʿ-l-m) is only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner (nadhīrun mubīn)." [27] But when they see it (the punishment) approaching (zulfatan; z-l-f), the faces (wujūhu) of the disbelievers will be distressed (sīʾat; s-w-ʾ), and it will be said, "This is what you used to call for (taddaʿūna; d-ʿ-w)."

• The Final Declaration: Trust in Ar-Rahman and the Helplessness of Disbelievers

[28] (Qul) Say, "Have you considered (a-raʾaytum): whether Allah destroys (ahlakaniya; h-l-k) me and those with me or has mercy (raḥimanā) upon us, who can protect (yujīru; j-w-r) the disbelievers from a painful punishment?" [29] (Qul) Say, "He is the Most Merciful (ar-raḥmān); we have believed (āmannā; ʾ-m-n) in Him, and upon Him we have relied (tawakkalnā; w-k-l). You will soon know who is in clear error (ḍalālin mubīn)." [30] (Q_ul_) Say, "Have you considered: if your water (māʾukum) became sunken (ghawran; gh-w-r) (deep underground), who then could bring (yaʾtīkum) you flowing (maʿīnin; m-ʿ-n) water?"
